Privacy Policy

Gossip Pod lets people on the same local network (a phone hotspot or Wi-Fi) talk and text through their headphones without the internet. We built it so that your data stays with you.

We do not collect any data

Gossip Pod has no accounts, no servers, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Nothing you do in the app is sent to us or to any third party.

On Android, the QR code scanner uses Google ML Kit, which runs on your phone. The scanned images never leave your phone, but ML Kit may send Google technical diagnostics (such as device model, app version and error and performance information) to keep it working; see Google's ML Kit terms. On iPhone, QR codes are read by Apple's built-in scanner.

What stays on your phone

• The name you enter, and your language and theme choices.
• A random identifier created when you install the app. It is used only so that you can block someone in a room, and it is not linked to your identity.
• Your saved rooms: room name, the host's local network addresses, and the names of people you have seen there.
• Chat history for each saved room (the last 500 messages) and the list of people you have blocked.

You can delete a room and its chat history in the app. Deleting the app removes all of this data.

What is shared with other people in a room

While you are in a room, the app sends your name, your random identifier, your voice and your chat messages directly to the other phones in that room over the local network. Voice and chat messages are encrypted in transit (WebRTC, DTLS-SRTP). The short messages used to set up the connection (your name, identifier and network connection details) are not encrypted on the local network, but they are signed with a secret that is only in the room's QR code, so people who have not scanned it cannot join or tamper with the connection. Other people in the room may keep the chat messages on their own phones.

In larger rooms (more than 6 people), voice and chat messages go through the phone of the person who created the room, which forwards them to the others. They are encrypted between each phone and that phone, and are not recorded or stored there.

Permissions

• Microphone: so others in the room can hear you. Audio is never recorded or stored.
• Camera: only to scan a room's QR code. No photos are taken or stored.
• Local network: to connect directly to nearby phones.

Blocking and reporting

You can block a person from their card in a room. You will not hear them or see their messages. To report abuse, use Report in the app or email us at the address below.

Purchases

Purchases are handled by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We do not receive your name, payment details, Apple ID or Google account. The app keeps only whether Premium is active and how much of the free hosting time you have used, on your phone.

Children

Gossip Pod is not directed at children under 13.

Satın almalar

No recopilamos datos

No hay cuentas, servidores, analíticas, publicidad ni seguimiento. Nada de lo que haces en la app se envía a nosotros ni a terceros.

En Android, el lector de QR usa Google ML Kit, que funciona en tu teléfono. Las imágenes escaneadas no salen del teléfono, pero ML Kit puede enviar a Google datos técnicos de diagnóstico (como el modelo del dispositivo, la versión de la app e información de errores y rendimiento) para seguir funcionando; consulta las condiciones de ML Kit de Google. En iPhone, los códigos QR se leen con el lector integrado de Apple.

Lo que se queda en tu teléfono

• El nombre que escribes y tus preferencias de idioma y tema.
• Un identificador aleatorio creado al instalar la app. Solo sirve para que puedas bloquear a alguien en una sala y no está vinculado a tu identidad.
• Tus salas guardadas: nombre de la sala, direcciones de red local del anfitrión y nombres de las personas que viste allí.
• El historial de chat de cada sala guardada (los últimos 500 mensajes) y las personas que bloqueaste.

Puedes eliminar una sala y su historial en la app. Al borrar la app se eliminan todos estos datos.

Lo que se comparte con otras personas de la sala

Mientras estás en una sala, tu nombre, tu identificador aleatorio, tu voz y tus mensajes se envían directamente a los demás teléfonos de la sala por la red local. La voz y los mensajes van cifrados (WebRTC, DTLS-SRTP). Los mensajes breves para establecer la conexión (tu nombre, identificador y datos de conexión de red) no se cifran en la red local, pero se firman con un secreto que solo está en el código QR de la sala, así que quien no lo haya escaneado no puede unirse ni alterar la conexión. Las demás personas pueden guardar los mensajes en sus propios teléfonos.

En salas más grandes (más de 6 personas), la voz y los mensajes pasan por el teléfono de quien creó la sala, que los reenvía a los demás. Van cifrados entre cada teléfono y ese teléfono, y allí no se graban ni se guardan.

Permisos

• Micrófono: para que los demás te oigan. El audio nunca se graba ni se guarda.
• Cámara: solo para escanear el código QR de una sala. No se toman ni guardan fotos.
• Red local: para conectarse directamente con teléfonos cercanos.

Bloquear y denunciar

Puedes bloquear a una persona desde su tarjeta en la sala; no la oirás ni verás sus mensajes. Para denunciar un abuso, usa Denunciar en la app o escríbenos a la dirección de abajo.

Compras

Las compras las gestiona Apple (App Store) o Google (Google Play). No recibimos tu nombre, datos de pago, tu Apple ID ni tu cuenta de Google. La app solo guarda en tu teléfono si Premium está activo y cuánto tiempo gratis para crear salas has usado.

Menores

Gossip Pod no está dirigida a menores de 13 años.
